Ashworth-Remillard House

eQuoria Posted on April 8, 2018 by vancleefApril 8, 2018

Ashworth-Remillard House Front Exterior ViewConstruction of the Ashworth-Remillard House in San Jose started in 1863.  Later came the Remillard Brickyard, which was a major component of the development and construction of buildings throughout San Jose and San Francisco.

As a community service, we have created a website for those who are interested in discovering the history of the house. We hope to be able to add stories about its past and document the plans for its future.

This house has been preserved by its three previous owners. It is now the community’s obligation to continue its preservation.

Age-Friendly Santa Clara County

eQuoria Posted on October 13, 2015 by vancleefOctober 18, 2015

urban village concept
An age-friendly location is a place that enables people of all ages to actively participate in community activities. It is a place that treats everyone with respect, regardless of their age. It is a place that makes it easy to stay connected to those around you and those you love. It is a place that helps people stay healthy and active even at the oldest ages. And it is a place that helps those who can no longer look after themselves to live with dignity and enjoyment.

Today, many barriers persist in Santa Clara County. Some of these are physical, for example, poorly designed buildings or lack of transportation that prevents older people accessing the places they want to visit. But many barriers result simply from the way we think about aging and the way we view and treat older people. Through out the cities and county of Santa Clara, there are many people and agencies working to remove those barriers.

We established the Age-Friendly Santa Clara website as a place to gather information and documents related to the multiple activities of those efforts.

Data backups are an essential element of storage security, but they are often the source of security grief. A large percentage of security breaches can be attributed to the mishandling of data backups. If you review the Privacy Rights Clearinghouse’s Chronology of Data Breaches, you will spot many incidents that … Continue reading →

Five Wounds Village

eQuoria Posted on April 26, 2015 by vancleefOctober 13, 2015

My latest volunteer project was putting together a website for the Alum Rock Transit Village Advocates (ARTVA). Back in 2000, the Santa Clara VTA announced that it was going to build a new BART station, surrounded by a 17 acre parking lot, behind the Five Wounds Church at 28th street … Continue reading →

Auditors Block Productivity

eQuoria Posted on March 4, 2015 by vancleefApril 29, 2016

If you talk with staff members in relatively new projects at large organizations, especially governmental organizations, you may discover an interesting pattern. When the group is formed, it is given a vision of what it is supposed to do. The team jumps on board and does everything they can to … Continue reading →
